Daily Darshans

The Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara follows a beautiful tradition of 8 daily darshans, called the “Ashtayaam Darshan” (अष्टयाम दर्शन), meaning "eight times a day viewing of the deity." These darshans are based on the belief that Shrinathji is a living child form of Lord Krishna, and each darshan represents different parts of his daily routine — from waking up to going to bed.

  1. Mangala Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : Early morning (~5:30 AM)

    • Significance : This is the first darshan of the day, when Shrinathji is woken up. "Mangala" means auspicious — it marks the start of the divine daily schedule.

  2. Shringar Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~7:15 AM

    • Significance : Shrinathji is bathed and dressed elaborately. This darshan showcases his ornaments, garlands, and rich attire.

  3. Gwal Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~8:30 AM

    • Significance : "Gwal" refers to Krishna the cowherd. This darshan is symbolic of Krishna going out to graze cows. Light snacks are offered.

  4. Rajbhog Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~11:00 AM

    • Significance : This is the main meal offering of the day – a royal feast called Rajbhog. The deity is seen in regal attire, reflecting Krishna's princely status.

  5. Utthapan Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~3:30 PM

    • Significance : After a short afternoon rest, Shrinathji "wakes up" again. The curtains are drawn open for this brief darshan.

  6. Bhog Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~4:45 PM

    • Significance : A light snack is offered. This darshan prepares Shrinathji for the evening activities, including music and play.

  7. Sandhya (Aarti) Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~5:15 PM

    • Significance : This marks the evening prayer and aarti. It symbolizes Krishna’s return home from the pastures, and includes devotional songs and incense.

  8. Shayan Darshan

    • Timings (Approx) : ~6:30 – 7:30 PM

    • Significance : The final darshan of the day, before Shrinathji is put to bed. He is dressed in night clothes and given a small meal. Lullabies (lori) are sung.

*Please Note : Darshan timings may vary depending on schedule provided by the Temple
